 Squirrels do this to me she had 5 babies I took care of all of them they ate cereal crackers nuts wafers triscuits if I didn’t feed them by noon they would chew up their plastic dish and throw it across the Don’t mess with auntasaurus you’ll get Jurasskicked shirt to remind me. Yes, my chihuahua used to bang his ceramic water bowl against the fireplace hearth to let me know it was empty. Now the aussie/australian shepherd barks at my son for water. She doesn't bark at me much unless no one else is around and he really wants it. the dog has a bad attitude and too fat so maybe a week of water only will do her some good...throwing a rice bowl is a bad omen - punishable by death haha.  I give my cat a small spoonful of tuna every morning. Today I got distracted by a long phone call and she kept giving me head bumps and then standing over her bowl looking pathetic.
