Yes! The money is absolutely there. And schools receive enough money too. Especially "poor" schools. An average size "poor" school receives 1 million dollars extra in funding EVERY YEAR. (In some states at least) Yet, many many principals do not know how to allocate the money. Teachers never get the money and the Halloween All teachers love Brains shirt rarely receives proper resources like paper, copier ink. Also poor schools receive grants and free technology like laptops from businesses. The money is absolutely there and there are many ways schools receive funding. But the people in charge of the money either don't share or don't understand economics/accounting well enough to manage it properly or they flat out pocket the money and try to hide it in bogus "expenses". Plus, there are so many unnecessary positions making way too much money. And all teachers are contract teachers now (in some states), no more tenure, so after 10 years a school can let you go for any reason and hire a much cheaper, much more moldable and controllable 1st year teacher.  When i was in school , my parents never helped me and I was a straight A student. My children needed my husband and I both to help them extensively and they were always at the top of their classes so I knew they were smart and able to learn. Education has gone downhill. Is it due to how teachers are taught? I was shocked to find that my gradeschooler was better read then his teacher. Sad. I believe GOOD teachers should make more but poor teachers should be encouraged to study more or find other work.
