I was in the classroom, I now homeschool. I’ve successfully graduated one child who got into some great universities for vet science. Some days I miss the classroom simply because I miss the kids. I don’t miss the other aspects of it, endless meetings, bullying by administrators, endless testing of students, lack of fun, not being allowed to give recess, 90 minutes of reading in Kindergarten, and so on. Being a single income family is hard. Having my kids be successful, honest, critical thinkers, no debate there. We homeschool again this year. Charles Melendez : so they only are exposed to other homeschooled children and parents of the Official Photographer Samurai shirt mindset and belief system. Teachers don’t ‘indoctrinate’ students. They encourage free thinking and they are exposed to many other races, religions & customs. I went to college with children who were homeschooled. It was difficult for them to interact and speak out in classrooms. Most belonged to similar churches. In my school we have one on one instruction and have field trips to museums, parks, National monuments etc. My own daughter went to Washington, DC for 3 days with her 5th grade class. Some parents came along too. There are sports competitions with other schools and interesting guests that visit our school from other professions to inform and expand knowledge of the world they live in.I realize there are some schools that haven’t been a safe haven for our children. That too is a very big problem. We all have to address a lot of problems these days and keep our schools safe. But you can’t live in a cocoon either. Underpaid teachers is just another problem we have to work on.
