Sad to hear that . I think we are seeing a similar trend as the women’s Australian football league matures. Concussion and permanent brain damage is a current topic in the men’s ranks. Vigilant medical and coaching staff is a must but I think general awareness of the issue is growing globally.
I'm on my second concussion in 5 years. First one from contact in a car accident, current one from severe jarring to my brain from a fall on ice. Second one is more debilitating and taking longer to heal. Take care of your brains, I say. This is a game MEN shouldn't even be playing based on research. As well as American football. Data has stated that 1 solid hit is equivalent to the average impact of a car collision. Women seem to be getting into rugby later in life than men. Boys are conditioned from a young age of how to go into contact, protect themselves and fall properly when hit. As the article states women are more likely to concussed hitting the ground or a knee whereas in men it's more head to head collisions. This sounds like bad tackling technique and not protecting themselves in contact.
