Oh yes but they smelled so fresh! Especially loved the amazing fresh air of the sheets & the bath towels! Ummmm yes I certainly do remember. Not a bit sorry for u Jean Young..we had no cellar. No washer and no dryer! So we had to run out with clothes dripping wet! Yes ,they would freeze ..but when they stopped dripping u brought them back in ,and hung them on whatever u could find.. yet we always had clean clothes.

Sure did back in the day, you didn't have dryers way back then and when we did we still hung clothes out, they smelled so good with a fresh smell.  There was no other way. Big problem existed when there was no way to dry diapers on a rainy day except to drape them all over the house and hope the sun soon reappeared. I even ironed damp diapers to dry them. Absolutely. We didnt have a dryer. So we had to hang our clothes on the Clothes Liner. I remember hanging clothes on the Jack Skellington yin yang dancing nightmare shirt for my mother and when you would bring them in or they smell so good nothing like that going to bed at night on some clean sheets that had blown in the air on from the outside. Yep I’m 31 and I remember using a clothes line, then we eventually got a dryer, can’t remember if we still used the clothesline after that or not, still remember doing dishes by hand as a kid, one would wash, the other would dry and put away, then we got a dishwasher. Sometimes have to gather from the neighbors yard!! But, OH! Do they smell good . Especially the sheets . Tumble the towels a bit as the aren't nice and soft. Clothes surely last longer! All the lint in the dryer trap. Never stopped, my line was full yesterday and will be again today. The smell of fresh sheets off the line, and the crispness of the towels and face-cloths you never forget the smell. Of course your clothing had to be lined perfectly from largest to smallest. The things we were taught in the 50/60s, still some are great, drying your clothes on the line spares on electricity and the wear and tear on your machine.

My grandmother, put the clothes on the line, early in the Mornin g, had all day to dry, especially with a good breeze, didn't take all day. Yes with my mom and first five years of married life. Buy clothes smelled so good when they were dried outside. Also hanging them out with it snowing wind blowing, clothes would freeze on the line. Yes I sure have it was hard keeping the laundry caught up sometimes especially with 4 kids and 2 of them in diapers and the worst part of that was when they were cloth diapers and on top of that you had to wash the diapers out on hand. I got in trouble once for hanging underwear on the outside lines! When mom confronted me on it, I only made it worse by saying, "you don't want the neighbors knowing we wear drawers? Oh yeah bird eye was the grand diapers .just think how much money people would save if they used those cloth diaper,pampers are not in our reach nor in budget soaking kids pants,and diaper was those day.people would grown if you buy cloth diaper there use them for different things.
